We of the mountain communities are surrounded by a beautiful natural forest environment, with four seasons which provide ample opportunity for an enviable offering of sports and recreational opportunities.  But we also want local events where folks can gather, be entertained, and actively participate in celebrations of the arts, culture, and heritage of our area.

We are relying upon your help to make this new community participation event a success of which we can all be proud.  This is a festival event which requires a year of preparation.  Over the months, members of the community will be engaged in numerous activities to create this unique cultural festival.

We ask you to join with us in creating an event which can involve all folks, no matter what age, career, or artistic experience.  We reach out to all to come and participate and celebrate creativity of spirit.

This Festival has various programs planned to generate on-going excitement over the months.
  • A call for playwright applications goes out in October, of each year.
  • From October through April of the following year, community volunteers will read and discuss play selections and determine the finalists.
  • In January, requests go out for submissions for the video contest and the songwriting contest, with deadlines of July 15.  Community members prepare their entries.
  • During June thorough August, Community members, as the actor/readers of the finalist plays, rehearse and prepare for the August Festival presentation.
  • The playwrights will be invited to participate in the rehearsals leading up to the actual Festival performances.
  • The Festival culminates our efforts, held on 3rd weekend in August, with theatrical presentations, storytellers, videographers' work, and songwriting performances.  Community volunteers host the event.
  • The Voting Members meet in September to prepare their requests to the Board of Directors, who meet in October and finalize plans for the upcoming season.
We need sponsors for every stage of this grassroots collaboration--prizes for the winners--funds for advertising expenses--volunteer recognition awards--any other support which you want to donate.
